Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Welcome to the Oystercatchers webpage!

Welcome everyone to the Oystercatcher webpage.  Mrs Jones and I are extremely excited to see you all after the holiday break and can not wait to get stuck into our learning.  This year, our target is to further our Reading, Writing and Mathematics whilst following the golden rules; I am confident we will surpass these expectations!

Our first topic focus will be the Saxons and Vikings.  We will look at how these people arrived in Great Britain, what they did when they were here and how we remember them today.

After half term, we will look at Space and Our Solar System.  This topic will explore the universe and our relationship with space - including famous people such as Neil Armstrong.  The termly project will be focused on representing what we have learnt on this topic.

Also below are a copy of the school Golden Rules and our timetable.  PE lessons will be on the Thursday and the Friday so don’t forget your PE kit!  The homework books will go out on the Thursday and are due in on the Tuesday, we also expect you to read at least three times a week (and once at the weekend).  I shall also collect in your organisers on Tuesday to check you are keeping them up to date.

Weekly Timetable (unless there is an 'event'):

  • Monday - Opportunity to read at home
  • Tuesday - Homework due in (from last Thursday)

                 - Collect in organisers

                 - Opportunity to read at home

  • Thursday - PE kit

                  - Homework goes out (due in Tuesday next week)
